Outlook 2002 crashes over and over and over and over and over and over

I have a 2 week old HP computer with fresh copy of Windows
XP with a brand spanking new install of Office XP. I have
error reporting enabled and I swear to god that every 10-
15 minutes (and sometimes more often) the error reporting
software pops up and says "Outlook has suffered a fatal
error and must be restarted." There is no discernible
pattern here. I could be clicking on a link or just
reading a page and whammo "Outlook has suffered a fatal
error and must be restarted." At first it was funny, but
I am going mad now. Everything is patched and service
packed to the hilt. If someone is interested in what the
error message actually says I would be more than happy to
forward a copy. I'm due any minute for the
message "Outlook has suffered a fatal error and must be
restarted."

My bad. Actually the error message is "Microsoft Outlook
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience".

I think I figured it out, thanks to your tip to look at
the Event Logs. Each Outlook crash is preceded by McAfee
trying to go out and update either it's AV engine or DAT
files. For some reason my machine was going out a lot to
look for updates. I disabled them and had no crashes. I
enabled them and right on time Outlook crashed. I can
handle one crash a day when we are looking for new DAT
files. This is McAfee 4.5.1 so it's pretty ancient.
Thanks again, Roady.
