Hello all - I had O2000 and it started showing messages such as "unable
to start services", then upon closing, I got the MS message asking me
whether I wanted to send the error to the MS team, for analysis, as if
the program had crashed. This went on unntil the 'pst' file got
corrupted. I used the repait utility and got it back on, buth the
problems continued.

Later, I upgraded to O2002, hoping to get things "cleaned up" but things
got worse. I got messages like "Can't contact LDAP directory server
(81)", "the operation failed", etc. I also get a LDAP dialog box with
server name and another box prefilled with "NULL", and asking me for a
password. Any clues? TIA

You probably upgraded from Outlook 2000 Internet Mail Only mode to Outlook
2002.

Outlook 2000 IMO does not use an Outlook Address Book service so the default
when upgrading is to choose the LDAP service lacking the OAB. Simply go to
Tools->Email Accounts->Directories->View or change. If the OAB service is
not present, back up one step and select the option to add it.
