Is there a way to have music play when a email message is
received? If so how can this be done?

check 'settings' 'sounds' 'new mail notification' (in Win98SE at least)

Open Tools,go to options, on Preference tab select Email
Options, then open Advanced E-Mail Options, In the box
<When new items arrive> click on Play a sound. Then in
control panel select sounds , scroll down until you find
New Mail Notification, and assign what you would like it
to play.
