Outlook 2000 to 2007 and pst file

My pst file in 2000 went over 2Gb and I can't access. It was recommended
that I move to 2003 or 2007 to prevent that in the future. But I still will
need to be able to access all the data in my current pst file that I can't
get at with 2000. When I install 2007 I understand that I can't just use the
old pst file or will get the same problem with size. What should I do to get
all the info from the old pst file into the new one once I have 2007
installed - so that I will have the 20 Gb limit rather than just 2 Gb?

You will need to use the crop tool and scanpst.exe on your Outlook 2000 pst
file (ensure you work on a copy)
Once scanpst.exe reports all is well, you can then open the pst in Outlook
2007, then drag and drop data to the default (new) data file.
(setup outlook 2007 first with the accounts and new data file)

Don't want to use crop tool as no way to know what will be lost. Must be
some other way?

Use an outlook data recovery third party specialist, costing plenty of $,
there will still be no guarantee that data will not be lost - that's the
purpose of data backups
The MS Outlook site has a free backup addin, though backups should always be
stored on two different and separate media, idealy implemented by different
backup apps, located at separate locations. And if your business relies on
data this should be implimented as a standard.
