outlook 2000 timing out

Greetings, my Outlook 2000 started timing out error when sending or receiving
messages. I set my computer back on week and the same issue arises. When I
reopen my Outlook at a later time, some of my messages have arrived.
However, I still get a timeout error. Comcast says it is a Microsoft issue.
I use XP with a 2.0 Processer and lots of memory.

Any suggestions?

Are you using a virusscanner that integrates with Outlook and does
incoming/outgoing virusscan? Disable this integration and try again.
