Outlook 2000 - new mail notification without outlook running?

Hi.
Are there any mail notifiers out there that can let me know when I
recieve new mail without keeping outlook running? Alternatively, can I
keep outlook in the tray (using a 3rd party app - I don;t think
outlook 2000 has a minimize to tray option) and still recieve popup
notification for new mail?

I've tried the add-in 'Mail Alert' but it doesn't seem to work when I
force outlook into the tray (using R-Studios' HideOutlook app).

Thanks,
Jon Crouch.

What type of mail server?

Microsoft Exchange Server.

Well, first, I'd say that whatever the 3rd party app does to hide Outlook to
the systray does enough to hide any child windows that might come up too, so
that's why you're not getting new mail notifications.

One solution, silly tho it sounds, is get your IT department to upgrade you
to Outlook 2003/2007 and that gets you a minimize to systray option in the
software itself.

Otherwise, look at http://www.slipstick.com/addins/notify.asp for a third
party solution that will check the Exchange server for new messages and give
you a notification.
