Outlook 2000. New mail messages not displaying

Outlook 2000 is not displaying received e-mail messages instantly. User needs
to open another e-mail folder then go back to the inbox before new messages
are displayed.
 
Users Outlook profile on this PC was recreated but the result was the same.
After renaming and and recreating her windows profile all went back to normal.
