outlook 2000 hangs on start-up

Do you move alot of email to a local pst file? if so, the
pst file may have gotten too large in size and may need
to have scanpst.exe run on it.

I am running Outlook 2000 on Win2k. Starting a couple
of months ago, Outlook hangs-up (doesn't respond) when I
start it. The problem has been getting more persistent.
Usually it will not work until the next day when it works
just fine.
Can't think of any programs I've installed lately or any
changes I've made to my computer. I've tried renaming
the file outcmd.dat to .old as one post suggested but it
didn't help.

Stacy, thank you for the advice. Did as you suggested and scanpst.exe found "minor inconsistencies". When I hit the "repair" button, scanpst.exe began to repair the pst file and promptly stopped responding

Any idea what could be wrong with it

Thanks
DC
