Outlook 2000 error

Guest

I cannot seem to keep Outlook open on our server. Dr. Watson comes up and says:

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being
generated.
OUTLOOK.EXE
Exception: access violation (0xc0000005)
Address: 0x3f99a142

What in the world is that and what can I do about it?
Thank you!

Hello,

The problem you are experiencing is most likely caused by some add-ins in Outlook. Try the following troubleshooting steps to narrow down the problem:

Note: Since some anti-virus programs will cause unexpected application conflicts, please temporarily disable any anti-virus programs on your computer before we go any further.

Step 1
======

Disable all the Add-ins and Extensions in Outlook to see whether the problem is caused by some extension conflicts. To do that, do the following steps:

1. Start Outlook.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and switch to the Other tab.
3. Click Advanced Options, and then click Add-In Manager.
4. In the Add-In list, click to clear the check box for every Add-In.
5. Click OK.
6. Click Com Add-Ins and click to clear the check box for every Com Add-In.
7. Click OK three times to close all dialog boxes.
8. Restart Outlook and test if the problem reappears.

For more information, please refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article:
281714 OL2000: Outlook Error Message if You Have the Quick View Plus Add-In
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=281714

Step 2
======

What is the installation mode of Outlook 2000?

Outlook 2000 has three installation modes: Internet Mail Only (IMO), Corporate or Workgroup (C/W) and No E-mail. To check your installation mode, please click "About Microsoft
Outlook" on the Outlook Help menu. In the About Microsoft Outlook dialog box you can see if you have installed Outlook in "Internet Mail Only", "Corporate or Workgroup" or "No Email"
mode.

If Outlook is working with C/W mode, create a new e-mail profile and test if the problem persists. To do that, please refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article:
