Outlook 2000 Email attachments

I am unable to send out attachments with my Outlook 2000. I do receive attachments without any problem. I have also been able to send out attachments with my email using Outlook Express so I know there is nothing wrong with my server.

Can anyone help me?

What happens when you try to send a message with an attachment? (e.g. do
you get any error messages? The message sends, but the recipient states
that it is missing the attachment.)

I receive no error messages or messages of any kind. The recipient only receives a winmail.dat attachment which does not open.

ah, change your message format to plain text or html and consider disabling
word as your email editor. all done under tools | options | mail format.

I had the same problem. Colleagues said that it's virus. Thank God it is just
formatting !!

Fine, but what if you need to use Word as Email editor AND Outlook RTF format
due to internal archiving procedures? This used to work just fine earlier,
but since we have upgraded our server to Exchange 2003, we are having
problems with attachments, some recipients do not receive sent attachments
although the message looks just fine in our Sent Mail folder.

Sorry, I am not computer literate
When you say add-ins what do you mean?

I did do a Microsoft SP2 download and since then I had problems accessing my
web based emails, I called the manufacturer of my laptop and they had me do a
system restore going back 3 days after doing this the web based problem went
away.

I had the problem of not being able to send message attachments without them
being converted to a winmail.dat file. Rich text, Plain text, HTML, Word as
my editor and not as my editor. My problem ended up being a corrupt address
book. I deleted the recipient's entry from my address book, and resent them
the message and everything was fine.

I had a similar problem in outlook 2003.
I would sent an email with attachment to 5 recipients 3 would receive it
complete and 2 without attachment. It was driving me crazy. I found the
solution in editing the contacts emailadress. If you double click the
emailadress a window appears, in the 4th line there is a internetformat. I
changed that to let outlook determine. And my problem was solved.

Well, it appears that 2 1/2 years later (after your initial post), Microsoft
still has not resolved this issue, as people are still having problems with
it.

I am running Outlook 2000 and for the past month or two I've had difficulty
sending attachments. Some people get attachments just fine, some don't see
any attachment, some get messed up text, and some see winmail.dat but can't
open.

I've had the computer looked at....there's no viruses or spyware. They
changed it to send as Plain text and it worked once for them. I got the
computer back and it stopped working. That shouldn't be the problem anyway,
because I've had it set on HTML for years without any problems! I also
discovered a friend is running Outlook 2000 and is also having the same
problem. I've been to Microsofts webpage and downloaded all of the
updates....no change.

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Since even two and one-half years ago OL 2000 was old, I don't imagine any
changes to it will ever be made.

Most of these symptoms coincide with sending messages in Rich Text format to
non-Outlook clients.

Are the recipients who receive the ill-formed messages all in your Contacts,
or does it happen with people whose addresses you enter manually into a
recipient field?
I've been to Microsofts webpage and downloaded all of the updates....no
change.

I'd be very surprised if Microsoft issues any additional changes to OL 2000.

Thanks for your response....
I've been very frustrated because the people that can't open my emails now,
used to be able to open them (even though they don't use Outlook) and nothing
has changed on my end except installing the Microsoft & Windows updates. I
have always sent emails in HTML format, so why is there a problem now? Plus,
I've never sent it in Rick Text format so this is a non-issue. Yes, all of
those that I'm sending to are in my contacts.
