Outlook 2000 Doesn't Close Properly

Sometimes when I exit from Outlook 2000, it stays in the Task Manager
and will receive emails even if it's closed. It doesn't matter if I use
the X or File/Exit. Is this a known issue and, if so, is there a resolution?

Thanks,

Michael

There are some things that can keep Outlook resident in memory. Some
examples are:

PDA software (Activesync, Palm [chapura])
Fax software (WinFax)
Using Microsoft Word 2000 as the editor and Word is open at the time Outlook
is closed
3rd party addins (e.g. Adobe Acrobat [full version not reader])

Have any of things installed?

No.

Fax software (WinFax)

I have the fax software that comes with XP enabled but no third party
programs.
Using Microsoft Word 2000 as the editor and Word is open at the time Outlook
is closed

I am using HTML for messages with Outlook, not Word or Rich text and
Word has never been open when this happened.
3rd party addins (e.g. Adobe Acrobat [full version not reader])

No add ins.
Have any of things installed?

Only the fax.

Thanks,

Michael

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing mail.
7. The latest version of Skype

I don't have any of those things. In Tools/Options/Other/Advanced
Options/Add in manager both Fax Server Extension and Net Folders are
ticked. I unticked the Fax Server Extension. Will that correct the
problem? I don't use Outlook for faxing.

Thanks,

Michael
