Outlook 2007 data file not closing properly

I know there have been numerous posts on this, but none have seemed to help
me. I have verified in task manager that Outlook is indeed closed after
closing the program. I have run a scan on the pst file - errors were found
but it did not solve the issue. I am not running any add-ons or email virus
software -- i deleted all rss feeds. After receiving the "data file did not
close properly" message upon opening, the gadgets (gears) in the lower right
hand corner appear and stay for the duration of the day (9+ hours) thus the
scan never completes. Any suggestions??

Diane -- how can i verify the authenticity of this download? why is it not
coming directly from a microsoft website?

Huh? Of course the download comes from a Microsoft site. Did you even look
at the page DIane cited?

Brian:

The link was to www.slipstick.com...which does not appear to be a Microsoft
site from the address. It seems like a valid question if the user is
concerned about being directed to a malicious site disguised as being useful.

Maybe it would be more productive to provide clarification to the question
rather than looking down your nose at the user and shooting off a disparaging
response.

The slipstick page does not contain the download. It contains a link to the
Microsoft page that does contain tghe download, so the claim that the download
comes from a non-Microsoft site is just plain wrong.
