Outlook 2007 Data file not closing properly

Hi,
I am getting a message every time I open Outlook that the Data file was not
closed properly and is being checked. After some time I get another message
saying the data file has been checked and is ok.
I have shut down Outlook and checked the pst file with the pst fileand when
I do it resets the Favourite folder list back to its original settings.
This is now causing me to worry that the pst file will be lost, so i have
made a back up just in case.
Any Ideas on what is happening, or shall I just reinstall Office.

What does "checked the pst file with the pst file" mean?
You cannot 'lose' a pst or any other data without user input, in any case
data should always be backed up.
If you get this msg always, start outlook with the safe switch, does it
reoccur?
Use Run
outlook.exe /safe
