I would like to know how to stop Outlook 2000 from
automatically formatting phone number fields. When I
input a number, it automatically adds the area code and
puts () around it, and - in the middle of the number, and
I want to stop this happening. Can anyone tell me how to
do it please?

You can't. Masking of phone numbers is hard coded.

Russ,

Why is it hard coded? Isn't an acceptable phone number
format what I descibe below?
contacts to use a format so that they can easily fit on
my PDA's limited character display.

Instead of (xxx)xxx-xxxx which is what you usually get
with Outlook (I'm using 2002).

I'd like to get xxx.xxx.xxxx

Saving the 2 characters makes a difference.

Does anyone know how that might be done?

Thanks

Don't ask me. I'm not a developer.
