Outlook 03 Inbox Proble

Suddenly, my inbox shows the number of new messages received (the number in
the parentheses beside Inbox) but the messages don't display.....If I advance
the date of the computer one day, they all appear. This has been going on
about a week and I don't know why

Sounds like you have a filter applied to your view. Either remove the filter
or reset the view in;
View-> Arrange By-> Custom...
