Outlook 03 e-mails - all text underlined!!! HELP

Guest

I have a problem with all text that I type in my Outlook 03 e-mails being
underlined. Recipients receive my e-mails underlined. How do I turn this
off? This problem just started about 3 weeks ago. I have not installed any
new software, etc. Thanks for any help you could give me with this problem.

Do you use Word as your default e-mail editor? The cause is likely in the
email template file. I'm not certain...but it may be called email.dot.

Yes. How do I go about finding the e-mail template file? I really
appreciate your quick response and I hope this will solve this very annoying
problem. Any e-mails that are sent from Outlook 03 are underlined and the
recipients receive the email in all underlined text. Thanks.

Email.dot is usually located in \Office11\1033 folder;
Or search for email.dot & delete any instance (with OL closed) it will be
recreated

Maybe there's an easier place to start looking. I use Outlook 2007 but I
think this should be generally the same for 2003:

Go to Tools - Options - Mail Format - Stationery and Fonts. There you have
control over the text format for new messages as well as reply and forward.
It includes the ability to underline. Maybe it's turned on there.

I tried your suggestions, thank you. I could not locate the folders through
search and I also tried the format font underline option which was not
checked off.

Thank you for your help and suggestions, though. I guess I will have to
call Microsoft for help.

Regards

\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\1033
The above is the default path for Office2003

Solution

If you are using word as your email editor there are two options:
1: Stop using word as your email editor.
To do this Deselect "Use Microsoft Office Word to edit email" in Tools > Options > Mail Format. then click on "Apply" then "OK".

2: If you want to keep using word to edit your email -
>close outlook and word (if it is open)
>do a search of your hard drive (including hidden files and folders) for normal.dot
>Delete normal.dot
>restart outlook and you should find the issue resolved.

Cheers.
