Outloo2007 E-mails Disapper after reading first e-mail

My father has Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 on his computer but when ever
he opens Outlook 2007 and get's his e-mails and afterreading the first one
all the others disappear from his inbox what can he do do fix this problem
 
Check the view settings on his Inbox to make sure he doesn't have a filter
applied. Also, is he using the reading pane to read his messages or is he
actually opening them?
