Hello, I’m using Outlook 2007. I have my current outlook PST up and running
who works just fine... I would like to merge a previous PST which I saved
from another computer and would to transfer / merge precisely with my
current outlook pst without disturbing, losing my current set up , files and
documenta on my current outlook pst . Could you please help and explain to
me the step-by-step, thank you,

As posted here on a daily basis;
Copy your 'old' pst to Documents folder on the new PC - Depending what
method you used in copying you may have to remove the read only attribute -
Then within Outlook, File>Open>Data File.......browse to this file
If necessary copy data (drag & drop) from this old set of Personall Folders
to your current default set

Thank you for your reply. I followed exactly what you wrote and it did not
merge anything… Anyway both outside outlook pst are saved on my backup hard
drive… those two outlook pst documents have e-mails that I received and
sent and different folders I created and also addresses on the contact
address book folder.. The only things I m trying to do without LOSING
ANYTHING or changing any current setup or in any way is to merge or import
those files/data on my current outlook PST… since they’re identical products
from outlook they must be and should be 100% compatible. Why is it so
complicated…?

Copy the old .pst file into My Documents. Then open Outlook, and from the
file menu chose Import and Export - Import from another program or file -
personal folder file (.pst).

Make sure you select the correct duplicates option.

It's not complicated. DL posted the correct instructions. What didn't
work for you?

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!
This is posted on here at LEAST once a day - DO NOT USE THE IMPORT
FUNCTION to move data from one Outlook to another.

Why not?

Importing an entire PST may well corrupt your profile and may create a
ghost PST that you can't close. Importing PST's will lose:

1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

Opening a PST file will preserve all of these. That is why we do not advise
people to import a native file into Outlook.

OK OK, OK, I understand (and agree with) Russ's view, but opening a pst
doesn't merge mails, etc. It can take hours to move items from one folder to
another.

If the pst is THAT big, then don't bother to merge, just keep it open...

Of course it wont merge anything; As I stated, you copy whatever from your
old set of Personal Folders to the new default set

You can of course Import, but that will lose data & settings and maybe
corrupt your Profile
