Outbox empty but Outlook still says it is sending messages.

Repeatedly, i.e. every time if click Send/Receive Outlook informs me that it
is sending two messages. These seem to take a long time to send. However
every time I check (before & after) my Outbox is empty.
I have run Norton and McAfee and can't find anything wrong.
What is the fix?

Problem resolved. My error. That outgoing email account address had been
corrupted.
Thanks.
