Out of Office not working in cached mode

We recently setup 3 new laptops in an Exchange 2000 environment with
Outlook2003 in cached mode. When the users turn on Out of Office it tells
them it is switched on but noone receives the OoO replies. Has anyone seen
this problem before?

No I haven't, but does the user get any error messages if s/he tries to edit
the text of the Out of Office message? (wondering if the OOF rule is corrupt
in the mailbox)
