Out-of-Office AutoReply

I have outlook 2003 and I'm on a POP3 server, so apparently I can't use the
Out of Office Assistant to create an autoreply email while I'm gone. So
instead I tried to use a rule, under rules and alerts, and I tried to use a
template for out of office replies I downloaded (outlook won't let me just
use a word file that I create). I tested the rule and it works, but I can't
edit the template document with the dates and times I will return etc - I can
make the changes in the document but it won't let me save it as the same file
type. I can save it as a "template document", but that doesn't seem to
register with outlook as it doean't show up when I try to put it into the
reply rule. So right now my email is replying with a blank template. Any
suggestions?
