Rules not working with autoreply?

Hi, I am setting up an outlook rule to auto reply when the subject or body contains a certain keyword. I can get the rule to move the emails to a certain folder (move to the specified folder) but when I select the autoreply (reply using a specific template) nothing happens. Any ideas why this might be? I am using outlook 2003 SP2
