Out-of-Office Asst. won't forward to external addresses

What do we need to do on the exchange 2000 server to allow the Out-of-Office
Assistant to forward all incoming emails to an external email address? (This
doesn't work right now)

Will this presumed change in settings affect other things ?-- I'm thinking
of spam relay here.
