other brands of ink for Canon i560?

A

Alynn Baker

I am new to using a Canon i560 for greeting cards and photographs. I
have been using an HP 900 series printer with HP ink for years. I
noticed that Staples, among others, has a less expensive replacement
for the Canon 3e black and 6e colors (this printer uses 4 colors, not
6, and is sufficient for my needs at this time).

I imagine this has been answered a million times before I checked into
the newsgroup, so I do apologize in advance. But are these other inks
safe and as durable as the actual Canon ink? I spray finished pictures
with clear acrylic sealer used to decorative crafts but would still
like a quality ink that will not damage the printer either. Thanks.

I can't imagine why you think a quality ink such as the JetTec which I
distribute would damage a printhead ?
I and a few zillion customers have used them and produce consistently good
photo work equal to any Canon ink. In any case the better Canon compatible
tanks are unconditionally guaranteed - so you only save :)

I haven't used the Staples ink, but DO NOT use any ink that is labeled
as universal or claims to work in several different printers. It's
garbage.

Only use ink that is specifically formulated for your printer.

I use AtlanticInkjet for my ink and supplies. They get their ink from
Formulabs, which is a well respected supplier to many online shops. They
have both CDN and US sites and prices.

Some inks are damaging, clog easier, have poor colour matching, and
little or no lightfastness. When it comes to aftermarket companies, you
get what you pay for.

Buying original replacement ink tanks for your printer can be expensive
if you print a lot. So I refill my ink tanks for my Canon i850 with
quality bulk ink and have had no problems in over a year.

People would ask for practial real world experience, particularly if
they cared about what they are doing. A web search would do nothing
but bring up a bunch of garbage. Surely you meant a google search.

But anyway, I dont mind sharing my time to help others even if the
question was addressed many times, its not an issue. Afterall, I
believe that is why we all share planet earth.

I've used Jet-Tec compatible cartridges for several years on a Canon S820
with complete satisfaction....

But... the makers have recently changed the construction to an all-opaque
plastic and they no longer activate the 'xxInk cartridge is empty' warning
pop-up on the screen. Failure to replace empty ink tanks on these printers
can lead to lots of problems in my experience! So I shall be using refill
kits to refill the original translucent plastic tanks in future.

www.inkjetgoodies.com they sell blanks that work perfectly in my
I850 and I960. They are very easy to refill and come with exit hole
caps that snap on. They have 2 indents in each side above the exit
port that the cap clips into and the refill hole is sealed with the
supplied soft rubber plug.

Oh, and they do have the prism that lets the printer detect low ink.

Hah, I'll bet if you take a survey of "grammar school" aged kids, they
probably wouldn't even know who Daffy Duck is. Time's moving waaay to
quickly. More evidence of my time acceleration theory. Food for thought
while you unclog your printheads...hehe.

I know you are right. My neices and nephews and friends kids dont know
any cartoons I grew up with except what was recently in movies such as
the looney toons...

They have no clue on Woody, Tom and Jerry (I have the 12 dvd set of
classic cartoons with the original Tom and Jerry before they were cat
and mouse) popeye.... none of the good ol' stuff.. But I collect them
and keep the spirit alive the best I can.

Thanks for the referral to atlantic, I see that Staples has it own
generic for this Canon i560 also. I like the printer a lot for my
uses, and for only $90 to replace the printer, I might as well get
cheap ink too.

Are staples like Costco's inks. Had a look at them the other day. A set of
inks will do about 50 printers and crosses brand names. That can't be good.

I've been using the Amazon Imaging (Fred Meyers Stores and others???),
labeled for the Canon and had good printing.

Avoid the generic inks. You can do much better. In the U.S.,
www.alotofthings.com sells Formulabs ink. Excellent quality and great price.
I don't think Atlantic sells Formulabs any more, but I may be wrong. Anyone
know for sure?

"AtlanticInk" and "AtlanticInkjet" are two different companies, in
different countries, on two different continents.

AtlanticInkjet (Canada and US) still uses Formulabs supplied ink in
their refill kits and bulk ink supplies.

AtlanticInk (Ireland) probably uses a different supplier.

I confirmed this before placing another order a couple of months ago.
The people at AtlanticInkjet have had many inquiries about their ink
quality because of the other company in Ireland. Rest assured that
AtlanticInkjet in Canada and USA still uses Formulabs.
