OT--ZA, system error, reboot

Just FYI.

My mother's XP SP2 machine would not allow an updated version of free ZA
(ver 6x) to run.....the ZA GUI would report:
System Error, please reboot.

After much Google (+Groups) searching, no working answer was found.....only
that the files <vsdatant.dll> and <vsdatant.sys>, the latter located in the
Windows System32 folder, were at fault. No manner of uninstalling and
installing would allow ZA to run.

The solution: Perform a Custom uninstall, replying "yes" to all of the
items. Then a manual regedit to remove remnants of ZA.
Performed a "Find" for ZA, vs*, Zone Labs and True Vector....NOTE: Be sure
to backup the Reg before the manual cleaning and verify the "vs*" items as
actually associated with Zone Alarm. Installed the new version and it
worked fine. I did have Sygate and Kerio standing by, just in case. <g>

Ver 2. something.....don't remember the exact version number, but, it was
quite old. Had been having a lot of trouble getting anything newer to work
properly. Some of the newer versions would not 'remember' program
permissions, for instance, resulting in contant popup warnings from ZA. The
latest version is working very well....now.

Noted problems similar when updating from 5.xxx to 6.xxx. Prior version
removal/uninstall is required for proper operation. 2.xxx to 6.xxx is very
unusual.
