Since February 1st, my freedb client can no longer access the
freedb.freedb.org server. Changing to a other freedb servers is not really
a solution because too many tracks are not found on their databases. This
is quite annoying because I am in the process of backing up my CD Audio
collection using dBPower and Muse codecs. Anyone knows what happens?

TIA.

One of the 6 servers in rotation for freedb.freedb.org is corrently
down - the other 5 work. So in 5/6 of the cases you should be able to
connect.

Bullshit! All freedb-servers have exactly the same database entries
(which is also why you never noticed that freedb.freedb.org divides
the load to several (currently 6) servers, which can all be accessed
separately).

Try e.g. fi.freedb.org, de.freedb.org, uk.freedb.org or au.freedb.org
- they are all in the rotation for freedb.freedb.org and have (like
all other official mirror-servers) exactly the same database entries
in their database.

Hardware-problems on the master-server. It was expected to be back up
today, but obviously something is taking a bit longer.

Hi Joerg,

Good news. The server is operational now. I just finished downloading the
titles of about 530 tracks. Now I could continue ripping the next batch of
my CD collection. BTW, the tracks not found on freedb that I was referring
to, are legitimate unfound cases. Thanks for the info.

Hardi
