Hi All,

Apologies for the OT post, I guessed one of you may be able to help
with this.

Does anyone know what sort of warrenty a developer is obliged to give
on bespoke software? (UK)

Thanks,
Simon.

You're not obliged to give anything as far as I know. If you are developing
to a specification then you just need to make sure you deliver what is in
the spec' or you might not get paid.

If you set out a Limited Warranty agreement with your software (and you
must), then when people purchase it they do so with the understanding (or
not) that the warranty specified applies. I think the general rule of thumb
for warranty is 90 days.

Read up on software licencing:

and the sale of goods act and supply of goods and services act

You would be well advised to seek legal advice though, a poor liability
disclaimer could have you sued for substantial damages.

Thank you both for your replies.

Simon.
