OT: Google maps satellite views very old, better data somewhere?

Not sure where to post this question, hoping someone can help. I looked up
my own address on the satellite view at Google maps. Yup, I found my house.
Only problem is, the satellite view is years old. How do I know this? It's
pretty obvious. The house next door was rebuilt a few years ago. It USED
TO BE a large L-shaped building (about 3200 SF) with a large detached 2-car
garage. But, the top part of the "L" and the 2-car garage were both knocked
down in Spring of 2005. (to me, it just looked like it needed a new roof,
but the developers decided to rebuild entire structure eventually) In 2006,
the -rest- of the building was knocked down.

The developers originally planned to re-build the entire house and garage,
using part of the original structure and adding onto it. But, they
eventually decided it would be easier to start from scratch, and they lost a
ton of money in the process. They finally cut their losses by returning the
property to a bare lot, and then constructing a very small (~1200SF) ranch
style house on the property in late Fall of 2006, and selling it (lot, plus
improvement of small ranch house) for less than they originally purchased
the property for. On a side note, I briefly considered buying the property
myself, as a guest house or something. But bottom line is, the building
(the ONLY building) next door is NOW a small rectangle, if viewed from
above.

Funny thing is, the current google map view of my property shows the
property next door as a large L-shaped building with a 2-car garage beside
it. Well, you can't tell from the satellite view that it's a 2-car garage,
but I know it's showing the 2-car garage as I know what USED TO BE there
perfectly matches the view on google maps. But again, the property next
door hasn't looked like that for almost 3 years now.

So, anybody know where to get more recent satellite views? Preferably free,
of course. :) -Dave

I know what you mean, Dave. Where my car is parked a tree is growing
(according to Google Earth!). I have been parking there for over three
years. :)
