OT: Don't do business with 1stchoicememory.com or PCBOOST

Both are one and the same company now days. And they don't deliver. I
ordered ram from them last Wednesday, and I even paid for 2nd Day shipping.
But is the RAM here? NO, it is not.... Do NOT do business with them.

Again I say... DON"T DO Business with 1stchoicememory or PCBOOST

I wouldn't do business with an unknown company to begin with. I always
purchase direct from the manufacturer. You get what you pay for.

I always check with www.resellerratings.com before trying a new online
vendor.

1stchoicememory has a 6 month rating of 1.25 out of 10
- pretty bad-

pcboost is 4.28 - still pretty low.

I have a tendency to buy only Mushkin memory any more - lifetime
warranty and reasonable prices at newegg.com.

Where were you before I placed this order??? LOL Thanks for the URL. I love
Newegg.com btw.

Thanks Wesley. If they haven't shipped the memory yet, I will look into
this.

And I will let the group know.

Called PCBOOST this AM, and was told it was indeed shipped on Monday, second
day air. So, it should arrive today. I hope it is the correct ram, as I
have a stick of ram in my PC that on the label says PC3500, but SiSandra
rates it at PC2700. Plus, when my computer boots up, it says 333mhz for the
memory, even though I have it set to 200, which should then show 400mhz.
The sticker also says, "Warranty void if removed", meaning the heat clamp.
But if I removed the clamp, I am sure I would see PC2700 marked on the
chips. <sigh>

[[What is the difference between PC2100 (DDR266), PC2700 (DDR333), and
PC3200 (DDR400)?

PC2100 (DDR266) memory, PC2700 (DDR333) memory, and PC3200 (DDR400) memory
are all types of Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM. The varying numbers refer to
the different speeds of memory your computer was designed for.

Let's take a look at PC2100 (DDR266) to break it down simply.

PC2100 refers to the bandwidth of the memory. A PC2100 module has the
bandwidth of 2.1GB/sec therefore it is referred to as PC2100.

DDR266 refers to the effective front-side bus speed of your system. While
your DDR system or motherboard may operate a 133MHz front-side bus, its
effective front-side bus speed is 266MHz because DDR effectively doubles the
amount of data transferred per cycle that a non-DDR system would.

The same holds true for PC2700 (DDR333) which has a bandwidth of 2.7GB/sec
and is designed for use in systems and motherboards which require a 166MHz
front-side bus, with an effective front-side bus speed of 333MHz.

PC3200 DDR (DDR400) has a bandwidth of 3.2GB/sec and is designed for use in
systems and motherboards which require a 200MHz front-side bus with an
effective front-side bus speed of 400MHz.

Though DDR memory was designed to be backward compatible (meaning you can
use PC3200 DDR in a computer designed to use PC2100 DDR or vice-versa), we
always recommend that you use the Crucial Memory Selector to find exactly
the right memory for your computer. ]]

Not sure why you posted this, as I am aware of DDRAM speeds and specs,
etc...

However, 1stchoicememory, now run by PCBoost has lost a sale. It didn't
show up today, so ...

Thanks for your feedback though, I appreciate it.

You can now ignore this thread. The ram came, and it was the post offices
fault. The pacakage is clearly post marked June 7th, so it too them 4 days
(that is counting out Friday because of the postal holiday)... But I paid
for 2nd day air.

<LOL>
At least we won't read in the newspaper fifty years from now
how the USPS finally delivered your package.

I wish I had checked these reviews before I ordered from 1st Choice Memory, They still advertize the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T with motherboard for $237.95 as a motherboard/CPU combo. When I bought it, it was the best price I could find. The reason is that they do not have them in stock and are unable to get them. They ship the AMD FX 8120 instead. They do not ask if you want the substitute nor do they include the empty box so the only way you know they have done a bait and switch is when you power up your PC. They said they would change it out for the 1100T but they couldn't get one. They did give me a refund though and paid for the return shipping. Buyer beware!
