I deal in second user systems and I would NEVER look at the
information left on a HD,

Well, not unless it looked interesting. :-=))

I checked it more to see if I could see if the info it's self had anything
to do with it having stayed when by all accounts it should not have. As I
stated earlier it had XP home on it I went over that with XP corporate pro
which recommended I upgrade; but because of it being a used laptop I chose a
new install with the custom option that allows you to choose where to put it
and whether or not you want it to partition or to install on a partition
already available. Seeing as how I chose to have it format it should *not*
have left any of the previous information; but it did and I am still
scratching my head trying to figure out why. I figure it has something to
do with it having been previously formatted as NTFS and as I have only
recently started doing NTFS I guess that has something to do with why it
left the information.
The info was in the funny named folders like what 98SE and others do
for the content.IE5 folders; but as I said they should not have been left.
They were just left over files from web browsing and there was one file that
was an insurance application for a RV lot and the names didn't jive. I
thought from where the guy had surfed he may just be a lurker here or a few
other places; because of his not only being a ham radio operator; but also
looked to be proficient in computers and security.
When the file showed that his home address was in Indiana and I knew it
didn't jive with what I was told that there was a better then good chance
that the laptop was stolen. If you have ever heard the expression used to
describe someone as "He would give you the shirt off his back" then you know
what type of person I am in RL; because it has been used to describe me.
I ramble on and on here and other NG's I guess because it is
therapeutic for me to do so, although it is true that sometimes when I am in
more physical pain then other times and have to take more of my pain
medication that I do tend to, shall we say belabor the point of something,
lol
I am also the type of person that should you meet them in a waiting
room and then make the mistake<s> of starting up a conversation with me,
within 5-10 minuets I will have told you as much of my life story or current
woes, misfortunes, good things that have happened or the most recent going
on's in our church that I can get away with telling you before I see that
look go across your face that I have seen before of "This guy is boring me
to death how do I get away from him without hurting my feelings". Most
times<bg> however before that point I have by then I have caught myself and
find a stopping point. I have been told that this is most likely caused by
the fact that I very rarely go out of the house (except for church Sundays
and Wednesdays and until here recently the pain only allowed me to go maybe
2 times a month instead of 3 times a week) and that when I do go out and
have contact with people that I don't know it is a psychological response to
being shut-in most of the time.
Well here I go again, so I will shut up;o)

I would just start a blog; but I don't read those things because I find them
boring and I know that no one would come to read them and I know here that
at least a few will read them if for no other reason, they might find
something to trip me up in (software and the likes) or find a good laugh,
shoot some even find me entertaining, te he he.

I think the main reason I posted here first ,was that; because of my
not being perfect I was trying to talk myself into keeping the laptop after
I had determined *after* buying it that it was stolen and I think in the
back of my mind I knew if I posted here and elsewhere's about it that I
would then *HAVE* to give it back; because of the cat sort of being out of
the bag so to speak.
You know how they say you have a little devil on one shoulder and an
angel on the other, well I think they were arguing over my soul and
thankfully the good guys won. Money can be replaced; but what I think of
myself can not and what my kids think of me is more important to me then all
the money in the world. In the final annalist all a person has is their
honor/word and inside their own soul where no one can see what they see
there when they look at their self with all the false faces and façade that
are shown to the world is all that maters, and after this I can still look
at myself and like what I see.

and after this I can still look
at myself and like what I see.

But the critical question is;
Do your children like what they see?

After all, here you were, being somewhat intrepid in dealing with
unknown people based on a tenuous, at best, chain of references, then
when red flags started appearing, showing a hesitation, or perhaps even
an inclination to "do the wrong thing" and keep the fruit of a poison
tree. It also appears that either compunction, carelessness, or both,
caused you to inculpate yourself in the transaction, and feel the need
to engage in a frantic spewing of pseudo-innocence suggesting character
anecdotes about your participation in church activities.

Note* - Next to the flag, wrapping oneself in the church is one of the
most certain giveaways of a dissembling culprit.

If I were in the same room with you during this event, I wouldn't be
terribly surprised to see you twitching and sweating, eyes rolling
around seeking an elusive point of focus, and in general, reeking with
guilt.

Then just when you were taking solace in the consolation prize of having
provided a valuable lesson to your offspring, and I asked if you planned
to take that mini seminar in human behavior to its logical conclusion
and illustrate the concept of consequence for actions, you indicated
that it wasn't your job to seek retribution, either moral or financial.

So the lesson the kids are learning is;
No matter what happens, just wriggle a bit, and it will all be OK

Moral of the story - next time, just shut up, format the damn thing,
and be on with your life. ;-)

Sounds like a good stretching exercise to *me*!

Lol. Thank you! You've taken my post and rewritten it

I, OTOH, geared my post to those with less
intelligence, e.g. those who are hillbillies, living
in a trailer in oh, say, Chillicothe, Ohio. <snicker>

If the truth hurts that much,
just wolf down another handful of OC's <g>

fyi, I had them take me off of OC's because I didn't like everything I was
hearing about (people od'ing, having their houses broken into to steal the
OC's, getting addicted) so I went to my doctor and had them take me off of
both those and the percoetts; because they had me on 60mg of OC's 3 times a
day and a 5mg percoett (almost the same ingredients as the OC's except the
percoetts are fast acting instead of time release like the OC's) 3 times a
day with them so that the fast acting percoetss would take effect until the
OC's time release takes effect.
My doctor didn't really want to take me off of them; because he said
managing my pain would be a lot harder without them; but I insisted and they
had to put me in the hospital for a week to detox the physical effects of
them and I am now taking methadone hcl 20mg 4 times a day. The pain is
harder to deal with because the methadone doesn't do as good a job; but I am
also using prayer, meditation, yoga, and self hypnosis along with very
limited stretching exorcises.
I guess that is why I sometimes run off at the mouth here. I use this
as a therapeutic pain management tool along with my other sort of hobbies;
because I find when I can engage my mind on something and concentrate hard
enough I can sometimes sort of forget about the pain. The methadone makes
the pain tolerable as long as I just sit and do nothing physical; where as
the OC's killed the pain so much that I would sometimes do to much
physically and then pay for it with more pain for the next few days. I
could however while on the OC's do quite a lot more physically and was even
entertaining the thought of going back to work. I even did return to work
for a computer start up company here locally back in the fall of 02, and was
receiving $350.00 bring home a week for 20 hours a week work and most times
I worked from home; but I had to quit because I almost landed in the
hospital; because the pain was beginning to make me sick to my stomach and
at times it almost made me pass out.
But of course you and others here could care less one way or the other
about all that. You and others however I don't think you understand that
there *are* two very different Sugiens the one is the part I play here and
the other is the real deal and is me in RL. Some (very very little) of my
online persona comes over into my RL and vice versa; but I think just about
everyone if not indeed *everyone* are different online from what they are in
RL.
