You can't add audio to gif's....

You may be thinking about Flash (www.macromedia.com).

You have it pretty well figured out, already: gif is an image format.

Here is a way to do it.

1. You can add sound to image files using DubIt. It will make an avi
file.

2. Use Cam Studio to convert the avi to swf
