With the OST TO PST utilities out there, seems to be this file is totally
compromisable if a thief gets access on a non-encrypted laptop drive with
cached mode Outlook installed????

Sounds right to me. That's why companies like McAfee market products like
SafeBoot. If you have physical access to a device, unless you've
specifically encrypted it, all bets are off.

I'm with you. Our campus is negotiating to get PGP licenses in the near
future, so I'll probably go with that. A bit of extra work to configure all
of our laptops!
