OS XP WMP 9.0 Error 80040255

OS XP recently installed.
Can play downloaded music files from my user identity only
with no problems on any MP3 file.
When switched to other users, and attempt to play, error
message above received.
What am I missing???

Yes it is checked along with every other file type.
Still not working.

I agree, however, the same MP3 files play when logged on
as my identity but not other identities that have been set
up on XP, so it doesn't make any sense.

This is what Microsoft has to say about that error code:
80040255: Windows Media Player does not support this file type
The file you are attempting to play might not be

supported by Windows Media Player. Although MP3 files are
listed.
