I saw a similar post but my problem is slightly different. Everytime I
insert a CD or try to access a CD in the drive (meaning autorun was turned on
but then I turned it off to see if that was problem) Win locks up. If I take
the CD out, my computer starts working fine again. This problem only showed
up after installing a third hard drive on my system. I now have my C: and E:
(two partitions on main drive) on Secondary Master. Another single partition
drive on Secondary Slave. My CD-RW drive on Primary Master and my new third,
single partioned, drive on Primary Slave. If I take the third drive out
everything is fine, no problems with the CD-RW drive at all. I have a
BioSTAR M7NCDP (nforce2 ultra chipset) motherboard. I have XP Pro SP1. So
is this possibly something wrong with Windows (note that when no disc in
drive Windows recongizes drive just fine) or bad IDE addressing by the
motherboard? Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated
