Can FrontPage be used to edit a web page that was originally designed with
other software, such as Dreamweaver or some other type?

Certainly. Some will be easier than others (for example, Dreamweaver will
be easy, but Net Objects Fusion will be more difficult than an iron man
marathon), but it's all HTML.

The real consideration in my opinion, is this -

Will FP be the exclusive editing/authoring software used to work on the
site? Editing a site where multiple authoring systems are being used
concurrently is a nightmare I would always avoid.

How about site done in Adobe GoLive? Also I have seen sites using
JavaScript mostly. Person would need to become expert in JavaScript too? I
have often wondered if websites were coded in the JavaScript or if it was
generated by the software--like for instance the MSN.com.

How do you tell from looking at a website what was used to produce it? It is
easy with FrontPage but what about others?

Yes on Adobe Go Live
- but you will have to clean out a lot of extra "junk" left over from AGL

When he says "a lot", he really means it, too. GL puts quite a bit of
proprietary spew into your pages.

So you would mean go into the HTML and clean it up before trying to convert
it over to FrontPage? Is that the general process for converting? Or can you
edit out the stuff using FrontPage and the code window? Does it matter with
various software?

You would be better cleaning it up first, this can be done by copying all text to notepad and then
paste directly into a new page in FP, and then import any image that will be re-used.

Or better yet, create a new page in FP, and copy and paste content. It's
more work, but in the long run, I think you will be better off using ONLY FP
javascript/behaviors.
