FrontPage missing in Office 2007

Hi,

Does any know of the FrontPage road map, or it is just going to disappear.

I know MS is creating a new SharePoint designer, and Expression web
designer, but these seem like professional programs. FrontPage seems like
the last web page editor that about anyone could use without having to spend
way to much for programs like Golive or Dreamweaver. Sure Dreamweaver works
for Web Designers etc. where $300 per license works but the other 3000+
employees use FP for intranet sites... Hope MS will continue to have a
solution along FP lines

Any info would be much appreciated.

I see new PCs and Service Packs on the horizon, if this product is anything
like the *Express products.

When did Express come to mean slow & buggy?

You should remember that it is an early beta which means it contains a
lot of debugging code so of course it is slow and buggy. First when
you come to the final beta you will see what the final product will
perform like as most bugs will have been solved and the debugging code
will be gone.

While FrontPage has numerous shortcomings, it is still the most popular web
developing/prototyping tool in the world. Why is it being discontinued???

IMHO: This is one of the worst %#$)? decisions ever made by MS.

On Jan. 16, 1996 when Microsoft acquired the Vermeer Technologies Inc.,
along with its flagship product FrontPage, the press release included the
following statement:

"Millions of productivity-applications users want an easier way to
participate in the excitement and enhanced productivity of the Web,"
said Bill Gates, chairman and CEO of Microsoft. "Vermeer's FrontPage
fills the wide gap between simple HTML page editors and high-end,
professional Web publishing systems available today."

WELL NOW THERE ARE MILLIONS OF FRONTPAGE DEVELOPERS IN THE WORLD and
supporting this development community should be an integral component of
Microsoft's web product development strategies.

Where is Bill Gates? "The inmates have taken over the asylum!"

It is time for the FrontPage user community to say NO! NO! ….

Rob,

I have not downloaded and installed the EWD beta but will do so before I
make a final decision regarding a product for my future web development
services.

After using FrontPage for almost ten years and watching it evolve into an
industry-leading web development product, I still do not understand
Microsoft's rational for abandoning this product.

BTW: I am still using PhotoDraw 2000 and Image Composer, and both of these
products were withdrawn from the marketplace several years ago. It is likely
that I will be using FrontPage 2003 long past the 2007/2008 timeframe.

I believe the time frame is 2009.
I've been using FP since Vermeer days.
Try EWD. I wanna say it's something like FP on steriods with standards. It's
neat.

Any info would be much appreciated.

It is not really being discontinued
It is essentially being split into 2 different "new" products for 2 different markets/users

Rob, do you happen to have the link for the beta handy? All I found was a
trial version which appears that the product has gone live.

| While FrontPage has numerous shortcomings, it is still the most popular
web
| developing/prototyping tool in the world.
|
|
|
|
|
|
NO! ..
