Organize Favorites Problem

R

Robert Hays

My sys. = Win 98SE & IE 6

Open IE / Favorites ,,, click on Organize Favorites
I get the dialog page but no list, only a small box with a red X in it.
If I go ahead and click on "Create folder" I get an error msg.:
""" An error has occurred in this dialog.
""" Error: 339
""" Object doesn't support this property or method

I have run the IE repair utility and reregistered all OCX & DLL files == no joy

All ideas welcome

Hi Bob :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Delete all Temporary Internet Files and Cookies

also..

Expand Favorites Menu

IE>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced
The option is "Enable Personalized Favorites Menu"
UNcheck it.

Display all the links on the favorites menu
Bookmark Wizard http://www.moonsoftware.com/freeware.asp
AMdead Link http://www.aignes.com/products.htm

and..

When you click the Favorites menu in Internet Explorer, all of your favorite
URLs may be missing. This might happen if the Favorites Shell Folder is set
incorrectly. Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

For Windows 9x Systems

[HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders]

In the right-pane, set the Favorites path to C:\Windows\Favorites

also...

It is possible that your Favorites folder is corrupted. You will need to
delete it and create a new one according to the information here:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/answers3.htm#favorites

Hope this helps.
