Organizational Forms Library?

L

Linn Kubler

Hi,

I'm trying to teach myself about customized forms. I have a book on
Mastering Outlook 2000 and it refers to three classes of forms: personal,
organizational and folder. Then it tells me how to open a form for
customization. Tools | Forms | Choose Form. Ok, that works... Then it
says that in the Look In... drop-down list I can choose a form library to
work with.

So were is the organizational forms library? I see the standard forms
library and the personal forms library but I don't see an option for
organizational forms library.

I've looked in both, Outlook 2000 and 2003 but I don't see it. Any one know
if there is a switch or something I need to turn on to get this
functionallity?

Thanks in advance,
Linn

The Organizational Forms library is a special system folder on an Exchange Server computer. If you're not using Exchange, it's not relevant to your scenario. If you are, ask the Exchange administrator if you can have permission to publish new forms there.

Its only there if the Exchange Admin has created it and given you
permission to use it. Are you on an Exchange system? Are you the
Exchange Admin? If yes, that's your answer.

Thanks Sue and Hollis for the repsonses. Yes I am on an Exchange server and
I am the Exchange administrator although I haven't had training yet. How
would I go about giving myself permissions to publish to the Organizational
Forms Library?

Thanks again,
Linn

I don't remember the steps now, but, at least in SBS2003, the Exchange System
Manager Help file had enough info to show me how to do it. If your package is
confusing, then you should ask in the microsoft.public.exchange.admin
newsgroup.

But, the first thing you have to do is create it. And before you can do that
you have to be able to view the system folders in the ESM. Help says to set
that up from the Action menu, but my Action menu isn't showing View System
Folders.

So, I have forgotten the trick, and you will have to ask in the Exchange
newsgroup.

Thanks again Sue, that link led me to an article with the setup procedure.
Now I can see the Organizational Forms Library. Just need to put something
in it. :)

Linn

There should be a link at http://www.outlookcode.com/d/formpub.htm to the
relevant KB article.

Sue, I have had the Organizational Form Library up and running for a couple
of weeks now, but I have on user that cannot see it from their login.
Everyone else can see and access it.

This one user can see it from the Custom Forms/Manage Forms utility under
Tools : Options, but none of the contents show-up there so it does no good.

But, they cannot not see the Organization Library from Choose Forms, so they
have no access to published forms. Any ideas?

Sounds like a permissions problem on the Organizational Forms Library.

Thanks Sue, but I don't know what to look for. All the other user's can see
and access the Organizational Forms Library when I had only set permissions
for "Default" and "Annonymous." This user still can't see it after I went in
and gave her explicite permission rights. Any specific thoughts on what I
should look for?

You're checking permissions in ESM? Any chance she's a member of a group that's denied access to that folder? What Outlook version?

Yep, I am checking permissions in ESM
No, she is a member of exactly the same groups as everyone else.
