Using Excel 2003

I set up a default directory location when I set up my new system. I later deleted that file location, as I worked on the system. However, I did not set a new directory before I deleted the old and now when I try and go into the Options Menu under tools to change the default and auto save file location. I get an error that says "can not access directory" and I am prevented from change the defalut directory location. I get the same error message when the auto save trys to save the file.

Thanks for any help

I use xl2002 and I could delete an entry from the registry:

In xl2002, the registry key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Excel\Options
(look for altStartup)

(that 10.0 will be 11.0 for xl2003)

And since you're working in the registry, make sure you back it up before you
start.
