Disk defragmenter seems to only show options for *when* to defragment. How
can I access options of *which* disks I can choose to defragment, and see
information as to how fragmented they are initially, so as to determine
whether I want to defragment them in the first place?

Thanks for your help; that article answers the question. I find it
frustrating, though, that you have to type command lines to do anything with
disk defragmenter. What is this, 1982?! Thanks, Microsoft--I think I'll just
buy a third party utility.

As a bare minimum, it would be nice, since it's so automated, to be able to
at least set what disks it defragments automatically.

The Vista Service Pack 1 will add the ability to select which drives you
wish to defrag. They do listen.

I'm running SP1 (OEM Final 64 Bit), and I'm not seeing where to select the
option for the drive. Am I missing something?

Sweet, glad to hear that.

When you start disk defragmenter, you should now see a 'Select Volumes'
button on the first screen
