Option to select connect to dial up connection in grey

hello,
when i try to create new connection to connect to network at my workplace in
network connection, i am unable to select either option of Dial Up Connection
not VPN. It appears in grey unable to select . I have WInXP pro.

This is the usual culprit:

Re-apply your current Service Pack ( SP1 or SP2 ) is the usual fix.

I didn't restore mais XP and had the same problem too!
