Optical drive recognition in XP Pro

Recently fried (2) motherboard. Installed new ASUS P5P800, and all is well,
except- the BIOS recognizes the DVD drive and CD drive by name, etc., and XP
used to, but now "device manager" justs lists both as "CD-ROM drives." I
installed all drivers w/ mobo, checked and have latest BIOS version, reset
XP, then went back and did a "Dynamic Update" of XP, all to no avail. This
is liveable, but irritating, and I just want to be sure that there are no
hidden issues that might come up to bite me. ???????

They should be listed in Device Manager under 'DVD/CD-ROM drives' and then
by hitting the '+' sign it should list both.

They do appear, but as I said, previously XP recognized one as "NEC DVD
xxxx", and ASUS CD ROM, etc. Now, it just displays two "CD-ROM Drives. It's
like it is not communicating with the BIOS, which DOES list them accurately.
Anyone know why?

Is there third party burning software installed? If no, is the IMAPI
service enabled and started? If still not listed properly, while in
Explorer look at properties for the drives. On the Recording tab, check box
to enable recording.

If third party burning software is used, try reinstalling it instead of
doing the above.
