Operating System Not Found.

Hello!
Can some one please help.

I have a Compaq Laptop (Presario) that has Win2K Pro OS.

It was working fine until today. The error message that I
am getting is "Operating System Not Found". when I try to
boot. BIOS can detect the hard drive.
I have valuable data on the hard drive that I need to save.
I have tried to reinstall the OS but failed. The error
is "Hard Drive not found".
Can someone please advise what I my options are?

possibly your hard drive has failed. Try booting with a dos floppy disk and
see if you can access or see your hard drive.

If you hard drive has failed you have just learned the importance of backing
up data. Been there done that, if I want to save it I put it on a cd-rw or
cd-rom.

You may be able to have your data recovered, but it will cost ya...
