operating system not found

went on vacation camkwen tobootlaptop, got error
message "operating system not found" how can I now boot my
system, help!

There aren't any floppies or CD-Roms in the applicable drives, are
there?

You may have to do a "repair" install, look back a day or two in this
very newsgroup for details (boot from the install disk, choose
"repair", etc).
