Hi all,
Please be aware that I have had problems with a new computer since it was
delivered. For instance I could not load MS Office Prof or another key piece
of software that I use regularly. It did not give an error message but
simply does not complete the installation process. I have another computer
from the same manufacturer which did not give the same problems during
installation of the same software. So it was very strange.
In an attempt to fix the above I tried to re-install the operating system
(MS Win XP Prof) using the recovery disk but there were some missing files.
Also during the installation the hard disk format did not appear to complete
properly. In any case the installation did not complete. Also upon start-up
it gave me the option of selecting two operating systems to boot into both of
which were MS Windows Prof.
However, I did manage to install a copy of MS Windows XP Home on the same
machine. However now it would appear that I can only see half of the
capacity of each of the two hard disks installed on the machine. It may be
because of the failed installation mentioned above.
When I go into the setup options during startup the full capacity of the
hard disks are stated. But upon loading into Windows it seems to get halved
for actual use of the machine.
I would appreciate it if you could let me know how I can check what is
actually wrong with the hard disk capacity in Windows and also how
potentially this can be solved. If the operating system needs to be
re-insalled I will do as necessary.
Thanks for your assistance.
