I had some problems with windows ME so my brother in-law
installed 2000. I trusted him because he is a computer
teacher, anyway after installation some of my programs
won't run at all and my games run very slow.
Unfortuneately I have now moved and don't have access to
the disks to reinstall. My biggest worry is the fact that
I am getting errors saying not enough virtual memory and
directx errors. The updates are current as well as I have
Directx 9.0. PLEASE HELP?

You need a valid license to run W2k - if he "loaned" you a copy, didn't give
you media/license (and uninstall his own copy), you don't have a legal copy
and need to buy one. I'm assuming he didn't try to do an upgrade from
ME -(not supported) but did a clean install and reinstalled all your
applications? Contact him to find out.

Re virtual memory - what are you doing when you get this message, and have
you checked your pagefile size in control panel | system ?

There is no supported upgrade path from WinME to Windows 2000. Best to start
a new install.
