I cant open XLS or PDF files from any email application on my home computer.
I have XP Home and upgraded to XP Professional Version 2002. Any suggestions?

neil,
thanks for the quick reply. i actually have acrobat reader 7.0 as well as
microsoft office exce and word 2003 on my computer. i can create excel and
pdf documents from my home computer, but if i attach them to an email and
send it to myself, or receive an excel or pdf file from someone else, i cant
open it on my home computer. the error message says something like "the
internet site you are trying to access is unavailable"...or something like
that. any clue what it may be?

Hi,
Are you sure you are attaching the files itself and not a shortcut to the
file. I could understand that sort of behaivour if it was a shortcut. I
assume you are using MS Outlook read your email and its not the message
about blocking because it may be a virus.

i use hotmail, not outlook. i attach the file-not the a shortcut-but i cant
figure out why i cant open it at home. i can attach the same file to my home
and work computer, open it at work, but cant open at home. so i know its
being attached correctly. but somehow it seems my home computer is reading it
as an internet site instead of an attachment because the error msg says
something about the internet site not being available. anyway, its driving me
nutz and i cant understand why it wont work. thanks again for your help.
