Opening Word 97 files

When I open up word97 files in Word 2003 they are all off-centered to the
left. I can't figure out how to re-center vertically. The margins show 1"
left and 1" right, but when viewing(print view) or printing the margins are
1" left and 3" right. Driving me crazy.
 
Usually means that Word thinks you are using A4 and your printer thinks you
are using Letter, or vice versa.
 
Most likely you have Track Changes enabled, and Word is allowing for the
"balloons."
