Opening Windows Explorer Without Expanding "C" Drive

I have set the switches so that WE opens on the "C" drive
in two panes ("Folders" in left pane) plus regular view
on right pane. I used %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe/e,C:\ in
the Windows Explorer "Properties" box to do that. The
only problem is that it expands the "C" so that all of
the folders are visible. Is there away to keep it from
expanding (so that the "+" stays a "+"). When the "C"
drive expands, it takes up the whole screen so I have to
take a separate action to collapse the "C" drive so that
I can see the other drives. Thanks.

I prefer using Explorer as well. A few years ago I
recieved a tip in a Windows tips e-mail newsletter. It
told me how to open up all folders in explorer view by
default. In Win 98 se, I got it to work. But in Win XP
Pro, I've only been able to get it to work on the MY
COMPUTER folder. The rest, by default, opens in SEARCH.
I did come up with a band-aid to this problem that I just
posted. Check out the post (& replies) from earlier
today: Lorenzo Weaver 12-18-03 3:03 pm "stop search
companion from opening"

I hope this was helpful.
