Opening outlook 2003: Load.dll is not a valid add in

J

JMW

This appears every time I open outlook.
I have done an internet search and have renamed extend.dat to no effect,
I have business contact manager installed.
One source linked to an MS office instruction but it applied to Outlook 2002
and when opening tools/options/other/advanced synch does not appear as an
option to be de-selected.
The add remove programs options referred to the earlier version so i
hesitated to follow this route.
Any ideas?

So which add-ins are listed in Add-In Manager and COM Add-Ins?

That is where you need to look for addins.

Com Add Ins:
AveryAddin.Connect (checked)
eDataSecurity Outlook Addin (checked)
Eyecall (not checked)
Outlook Backup (checked)
Plaxo (checked)

Fax Server (checked)

Disable them all and see if the error is gone now. If so, enable them one by
one to find the culprit.

Disabled all, shut-dwon and restarted and same message appeared.
Also, when i follow tools/options/other/advanced and click Com Addins the
message appears at that moment before opening the next window.

Does one of the COM Addins refer to load.dll?

No reference to load.dll in any of the entries. Is there somewhere else that
would show this?

You've gone suspiciously quite on me.
This error still persists.
I have deleted extend.dat
I have done a system restore
I have since incurred new problems including most recently that every time I
close outlook i get a "Changes to normal.dot" message and now i also have a
Managed MAPI catastrophic failure; could not initialise CLR error 0x8013150A
Windows website no help.
Tried detect and repair from the help menu.
Tried reinstallating Outlook 2003 and Business mananger from the set up disk
Tried detect and repair from the Small Office setup disk
uninstalled Norton and re-installed latest version
All to no effect.
Problems are multiuplying, not being repaired. Outlook now crashes regularly
and backup no longer seems to work in Outlook
